SOCRATES - The Lost Dialogues
Being a faithful account of the absence of Socrates from Athens before his trial by Charles Walters.
The Lost Dialogues were discovered in July 1930, precisely at the time that C Leonard Woolley captured the world’s attention with his excavation of the royal cemetery at Ur of the Chaldees. So great was this dig that scant attention was paid when a Greek employee at the Acropolis found a sealed, albeit cracked jar containing no less than 10 small scrolls and fragments. It was not until the late 1940s that carbon dating was used to connect this find to Socrates himself.
